Conference on East-West economic corridor gets underway - ảnh 1

(VOVworld) – Vietnamese, Laotian and Thai Deputy Foreign Ministers have gathered in Quang Tri province to discuss the development of the East-West economic corridor. During the conference, the three countries on Thursday hold trilateral talks on cooperation to develop the corridor.  They reviewed the plans to build the corridor and the necessary administrative procedures and examined difficult issues and ways of promoting investment. All three parties agreed that creating a cooperative management team is essential for enhancing trade and simplifying customs procedures. This will turn the corridor from a just network into an economic necessity to fully explore each country’s potential. The Head of Laos delegation Thong Phane Savanphet said ‘Our partners, including Japan, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have helped us to upgrade the corridor’s infrastructure. However, the corridor has still not met our needs due to a lack of investment, natural disasters, and an overload of vehicles. I would like to call for further cooperation from all related parties to remove any obstacles and attract more investment capital’.

The conference will conclude on Saturday.
