(VOVworld)- The National Assembly’s Cultural, Education, Youth and Children Committee held a consultation workshop in Lao Cai province on Friday to gather comment on draft childcare and press laws. This is the final round of consultation before the draft law on child care, education and protection and the draft media law are presented to the National Assembly for decision. Most deputies agreed on raising the age threshold for children to below 18 to comply with international convention. Le Dac Lam is a deputy representing Binh Thuan province: “The draft law should emphasize more on the role by schools and how the society would cooperate in better caring for children.”

Delegates discussed freedom of press and freedom of speech on the media as well as private sector’s establishment of press agencies.
