(VOVWORLD) - The coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 210 countries and territories around the world. By Sunday noon, there have been more than 2.9 million confirmed cases and 203,000 deaths.
The US tops the world in number of fatalities with 54,000 out of 960,000 infections, followed by Italy, Spain, France, and the UK.
Europe, a global coronavirus epicenter, has recorded over 1.2 million sufferers, 120,000 of them dead.
China had zero deaths of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Singapore leads Southeast Asia in the number of infections.
Health officials in Mexico have warned that its death toll will continue to rise as 70% of the Mexican population have underlying health conditions, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and obesity. 1,900 medical personnel in Mexico have contracted the coronavirus. Retired doctors and nurses have been called for joining the fight against COVID-19.
