The Danang International Paramotor Race (DIPR) 2012 which was first held in Vietnam with the theme “Da Nang – New peaks” ended on Sunday in Da Nang.


Vice Chairman of the Danang municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Xuan Anh, head of the competition board, said the race has created a new brand name for the city. The top-ranking parachute athlete Mathiev Roonan won the championship. The only woman to come from Poland, Emylia Plak, finished second. Third place went to a Japanese athlete Riyoga Yagashi. Roonan, the champion said:“I used to visit Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, but this is my first time in Da Nang to participate in this competition. I’m so proud to be the champion. I and my crew will promote your country to international friends via the media so they, too, will know of your wonderful beauty and your hospitality. I hope the Paramotor Race will continue be held and that I will come back. I’m very happy. ”.

The Paramotor Race has laid a foundation for the development of this sport and represents a turning point for aviation sports in Vietnam.
