At a working session with the Vietnam Union of Cooperatives, Mr. Dung praised many cooperatives for finding effective direction and innovative methods of operation. He said this effort has not only attracted many participants but also created value chains, provided capital, inputs and outputs, organized production, made profits, created jobs and income for employees. However, many cooperatives still face difficulties.

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung said, “The role of the Government, sectors and union of cooperatives is very important. First of all it is required to create the most favorable conditions for the collective economy to diversify, expand, and improve capacity and competitiveness. It is necessary to adopt a reasonable policy mechanism to support and help households to join the cooperative economy such as human resource training.

More than 25,000 cooperatives are operating across Vietnam of which 750 are newly established.
