Deputy PM: Digital transformation takes people as sustainable development goal

(VOVWORLD) - The 2024 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit kicked off on Wednesday in the ancient town of Wuzhen in eastern China's Zhejiang Province.

More than 1,000 delegates from regional countries and organizations attended this year’s edition, themed "Embracing a People-centered and AI-for-good Digital Future – Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace".

Attending the event, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long delivered an important speech emphasizing that in the current context, digital transformation must take people as the center, the subject, the driving force, and the goal of sustainable development. Close cooperation among countries and organizations are needed in building a safe, responsible, and mutually developing Internet community.

Mr. Long said Vietnam has made progress in digital transformation and identified a number of key digital transformation tasks in the new development stage, focusing on fine tuning the institution, building specific mechanisms for digital transformation, modernizing national digital infrastructure, developing high-quality human resources, providing online public services to simplify administrative procedures, developing digital platforms to serve people and businesses, and building a healthy digital culture associated with preserving traditional culture and national identity.

The Deputy PM proposed key cooperation contents to create a safe, healthy and sustainable cyberspace, strengthen international cooperation in research and development of artificial intelligence technology, and build new le gal frameworks, standards and international principles on technology.
