(VOVWORLD) - The management of the pharmaceutical industry should be in line with market development and ensure publicity, transparency, quality control, and lowest prices, said Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.

At a meeting on amendments and supplementations to some articles of the Law on Pharmacythe in Hanoi on Monday, Mr. Ha underscored that the ultimate goal of the pharmaceutical industry is to ensure the people's access to the best, safest, and cheapest drugs and benefiting from the latest pharmaceutical achievements.
He recommended the health sector choosing a spearhead sector to develop the pharmaceutical industry.
"I expect the health sector will concretize its strategy on biopharmaceutical development and prioritize investment in this field. There must be policies to develop the pharmaceutical industry and genetic and cell technology application to produce valuable drugs as well as having incentives for businesses in this field," said Mr. Ha.
He propposed that the Pharmacy Law Project must encourage and support foreign pharmaceutical enterprises to invest in production and transfer technology in Vietnam.
