All data concerning fishing vessels, violations, and management responsibilities must be thoroughly checked, verified, objective, and transparent, ensuring full interoperability among related data systems, he said at a meeting of the National Steering Committee for Combating IUU Fishing in Hanoi on Tuesday.
“The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development must, within this week, complete regulations on the use of these data,” Mr. Ha added.
The Deputy PM assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to review the Fisheries Law to ensure it aligns with EC recommendations and international standards.
According to the Ministry, as of Saturday, all fishing vessels had been registered in the National Fisheries Database (Vnfishbase). Local authorities are finalizing policies on occupational transition and supporting fishermen in upgrading vessel monitoring system (VMS) equipment.
