(VOV) - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received US Global AIDS Coordinator Ambassador Eric Goosby in Hanoi on Tuesday.

Mr. Phuc, who is also head of the National Committee for HIV, AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control, told his guest that Vietnam has approved a national strategy on HIV prevention and control until 2020 while focusing on preventive measures in key localities. To maintain achievements attained in the field, he asked the US to continue to support Vietnam by providing anti-HIV medicines such as ARV and methadone and help Vietnam build assistance transfer programmes. The ambassador pledged to do his utmost to help Vietnam fight this fatal disease and expressed his hope that Vietnam will continue to fulfill its national strategy on HIV/AIDS prevention and control.
