Deputy Prime Minister visits storm-affected residents in Gia Lai

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung visited residents in whose homes were damaged or destroyed by typhoon Kalmaegi in Gia Lai province on Sunday. He praised Gia Lai’s preparedness and effective response to the storm, noting that the evacuation of 300,000 people was a major successful operation that helped minimize casualties.

For recovery efforts, he urged the province to focus on environmental sanitation, restore normal living conditions, and prioritize the repair of electricity and water systems as well as transport and telecommunications infrastructure. He also called for timely support to households with collapsed or damaged homes to help them secure stable housing, while working to restore production and maintain growth momentum.

The Deputy Prime Minister said he would continue mobilizing funding sources to support the province’s disaster recovery.

On this occasion, he helped secure donor contributions to rebuild 20 destroyed homes, each worth about nearly 2,500 USD and distributed 150 relief packages to households affected by typhoon Kalmaegi.
