Dong Trieu township becomes Quang Ninh province’s fifth city
(VOVWORLD) - Dong Trieu township was officially recognized as Quang Ninh province’s fifth city under a National Assembly Standing Committee resolution, which was announced at a ceremony on Wednesday.

Over the past decade, Dong Trieu has achieved significant milestones, reaching city status a year ahead of schedule. The city has recorded an average annual economic growth rate of 14%, with per capita income exceeding 8,800 USD, solidifying its role as a key driver of Quang Ninh's socio-economic development.
Addressing the ceremony, National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh urged Dong Trieu to become an exemplary urban area and a center for economic, cultural, and tourism development in Quang Ninh while serving as a gateway connecting Quang Ninh with other northern provinces.
“The elevation of Dong Trieu to city status requires the local Party committee, government, and people to work harder to solidify Dong Trieu’s role as a crucial pillar in regional connectivity. These efforts will contribute to Quang Ninh's goal of becoming a centrally-run city by 2030 and a major international urban area by 2050," said NA Vice Chairwoman Thanh.
On this occasion Dong Trieu was awarded the first-class Labor Order.
