Some Vietnamese newspapers gave wide coverage to Mr. Rutte’s visit. An article in The People newspaper, titled “Deepening Vietnamese-Dutch relations”, praised the visit as an important political event, marking a new milestone in the two countries’ strategic partnership and cooperation in responding to climate change and a rising sea level. The two nations will focus on climate change adaptation, water resource management, agriculture, maritime economy, energy, and logistics.
The People’s Army newspaper ran an editorial entitled “A new page of Vietnam-Netherlands co-operation” saying that bilateral co-operation has enjoyed greater development and will be deepened in the future. This has been reflected in the two countries’ establishment of a strategic partnership in climate change adaptation and water resource management in 2010 and a two-way trade turnover of 3.6 billion USD last year.
