Egypt has new Prime Minister

(VOVworld) – Egypt’s outgoing Housing Minister Ibrahim Mahlab has been appointed the new Prime Minister as the interim government of Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi announced their resignation.

Speaking to the press after meeting with the interim President Adly Mansour on Tuesday, Mahlab said he will immediately begin consultations to form a new government.Mahlab was a senior official in ousted President Hosni Mubarak's National Democratic Party (NDP). He was appointed to the Shura Council, the Upper House of Parliament, in 2010. He served as chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, a large Egyptian civil engineering firm, before being appointed Egypt’s Housing Minister.
