Trump told reporters at the White House he will speak to Russian President Vladimir Putin soon. Trump said he is "not happy" about the status of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, but he again expressed confidence that the conflict will soon be settled.
He said the US is ready to move to phase 2 of sanctions against Russia, though he did not provide details.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Sunday that the US and the EU could impose additional “secondary tariffs” targeting countries that purchase Russian oil, thereby increasing pressure on Russia to come to the negotiating table.
