(VOVworld) – The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has deployed teams to oversee avian flu prevention in localities with outbreaks.

Deputy Minister Vu Van Tam spoke at a Tuesday meeting of the National Steering Committee for Bird Flu Prevention and Control in Hanoi: "Late detection of outbreaks in the southern provinces has made it more difficult to stamp out the epidemic. The ministry’s inspection teams will continue their work in the provinces of Ha Tinh, Nghe An, and Nam Dinh. The most important task now is to localize the outbreaks to prevent spreading."

Avian influenza has hit 22 provinces and cities nationwide. A number of provinces such as Nam Dinh, Long An, Kon Tum, and Dac Lac have been fighting the epidemic for 21 days.
