(VOVworld) – The fishery export turnover in May is estimated at 500 million USD, bringing the total export value since the beginning of this year to 2.2 billion USD.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported that export volumes to three major markets, the US, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, have not exceeded the previous period. Meanwhile, exports to China and Thailand rose sharply to 41% and 19% respectively against the same period last year. The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors said in order to boost export turnover in the coming months, it would be necessary to reduce indirect and service costs while paying more attention to food safety, hygiene and market expansion.
