Foreign media: 12th National Party Congress to shape Vietnam’s future development

(VOVworld) – Foreign media continued to underline the significance of the 12th National Party Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) in marking an advance in Vietnam’s construction and growth.

On Wednesday, China’s Xinhua News Agency said Vietnam has reaped remarkable achievements during its renewal process. The 12th National Party Congress will create momentum for further development.

The Shanghai Daily newspaper ran a commentary on the event saying that, based on achievements of the 30-year renewal process, Vietnam’s 12th National Party Congress will surely generate more driving force for its development.

Hong Kong’s newspaper “The South China Morning Post” quoted American analyst David Brown as saying that the Congress will set Vietnam’s future.

Japan’s Nikkei Asian Review reported that the Congress is expected to open a new era of development for Vietnam.

A Bloomberg article drew attention to the Congress’s impacts on Vietnam’s economic development, particularly through state-owned enterprise reforms, the implementation of new trade agreements, and measures to quell East Sea tensions with China. According to Bloomberg, in the next five years, if Vietnam achieves an annual economic growth rate of 7%, it will be one of the fastest growing economies in Asia-Pacific.

The New York Times said the Congress will have a great impact on Vietnam’s external policy, which is facing both opportunities and challenges in the East Sea.

According to the AFP, the Congress is taking place at a moment when Vietnam needs to review its 30-year renovation before moving forward.   

The Russian “Nation News” newspaper on Wednesday carried a story titled “Vietnam confirms renewal policy” stating that Vietnam’s 12th National Party Congress will continue to affirm Vietnam’s integration into the global economy, and its pursuit of a socialist-oriented market economy. According to the article, the 1986 renovation has brought remarkable growth for Vietnam.

The “New Germany” newspaper posted an article by Detlef Pries saying the CPV continues to forge ahead with the “Renewal” process.

The article said that the CPV, which led Vietnam in the struggle for national liberation and independence, has worked tirelessly to create a prosperous life for Vietnamese people.

The author said the goal of becoming an industrialized nation by 2020 is a major goal and Vietnam needs to exert more effort to become a self-reliant and competitive economically.

German’s Deutsche Welle (DW) and the German news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur (DPA) ran a number of stories describing Vietnam’s atmosphere on the eve of the 12th National Party Congress.

The articles said the Congress holds significant meaning in shaping the development path for Vietnam in the coming years.
