France issues final report on 2009 plane crash

More than 2 years after an Air France Airbus A330 crashed off the coast of Brazil on June 2009, investigators have made official statement about the causes of the accident. It was one of most serious disaster in French aviation history.

The final report issued on Wednesday, said that the main causes were pilot error and a malfunction in the air speed sensors. The 365-page judicial report was conducted over 20 months by investigators from the French aviation safety authority BEA. Investigators used to issue preliminary reports into the crash over the last two years, but this is the first time the BEA has published the full official report to the great relief of the victim’s families and the authorities. Speed sensors malfunction was stated as the cause of the crash in the preliminary report released previously.
