(VOVworld) - French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said on Monday there was a very strong possibility that a French national was directly involved in the Islamic State’s execution of a US aid worker and Syrian soldiers. Cazeneuve told reporters that French Intelligence Services presumed the man seen in the video was Maxime Auchard, 22, who is from Normandy in northern France. Auchard is thought to have entered for Syria in August, 2013, after a trip to Mauritania in 2012. Intelligence services are working to determine whether a second French national appeared in the video.

On Sunday IS published a video showing the beheading of US aid worker Peter Kassig, the third US citizen executed after journalists Jim Foley and Steven Sotloff.
