Israeli forces shot and killed at least 58 Palestinians and injured more than 2,400 in clashes, Palestinian health officials said.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas declared 3 days of national mourning for the victims, and said the US is no longer a mediator in the Middle East. Senior Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) official Saeb Erekat said the Palestinian Authority will file a war crimes complaint against Israel with the International Criminal Court (ICC) over its settlement construction on occupied lands.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim accused the US of sharing responsibility with Israel for the massacre on the Gaza border.

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said it rejects the use of force against peaceful marches demanding legitimate rights and warned of negative consequences of this dangerous escalation.

EU High Representative Federica Mogherini called for maximum restraint by all parties to prevent further deaths.

In a press conference on Monday, White House spokesperson Raj Shah blamed the Palestinian militant group Hamas for the deadly violence on Israel’s border and refused to call for Israeli restraint.
