Get-together marks 75th anniversary of first National Assembly general election

(VOVWORLD) -The National Assembly Standing Committee held a get-together on Wednesday to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first general election of Vietnam National Assembly (January 6).

Speaking in the event, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan praised the fine tradition of 13 National Assembly terms in solidarity, creativeness and action for people’s interests. She said the 14th National Assembly has made comprehensive progress in legislation, supervision, parliamentary external relations and contribution to national reform over the past 35 years.

“We should concretize regulations of the 2013 Constitution and fine tune the legal system to facilitate growth while improving the quality of supreme oversight to meet voters’ aspiration. Parliamentarian foreign affairs should be promoted to reflect Vietnam’s active, responsible and trust worthy partner in the world community.” Ms. Ngan said, “We have switched from a presentation to adversarial system of legislative body while using more information technology to boost professionalism, quality and effectiveness in National Assembly operation.”
