(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang called for greater efforts in national renewal, construction, and defense at a meeting on Tuesday to mark the 70^th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Police Force and 10 years of All People’s National Defense Day.

Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, National Asembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, and representatives from the police forces of Cuba, Laos, Cambodia, China, Russia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Brunei also attended the meeting. President Sang said: “We should be aware of the challenges in the new period of development in order to work on preventive measures to achieve the ultimate goal of protecting national independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, the Party, the state, the people, and the socialist regime. Greater efforts are needed to safeguard our renewal, industrialization, modernization, national interests, political security, and social order as well as maintain a peaceful environment to develop a socialist-oriented nation as defined by the resolution of the 11^th Party Central Committee.”

President Sang urged the building of a revolutionary, elite, and modern police force with an effective apparatus. The Vietnam People’s Police Force received the Gold Star Order for the 4^th time on this occasion.
