Hamas-Israel conflict: global community calls for support to Gaza civilians

(VOVWORLD) - Swiss healthcare workers began a hunger strike protest outside the Federal Parliament in Bern on Monday, urging the government to take a stronger stance against Israel’s treatment of people in Gaza. The protesters, appearing in pairs, wore stethoscopes and blood-stained medical gowns, and rotated 24-hour fasting shifts.

That same day, Swiss Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nicolas Bideau expressed Bern’s “deep concern” over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, reiterating Switzerland’s calls for a ceasefire and respect for international humanitarian law. He said the Federal Council believes that recognizing the State of Palestine is part of a long-term peace perspective based on the two-state solution.

In Hungary, hundreds of people gathered in Budapest for an unprecedented candlelight vigil to honor the memory of more than 20,000 children killed in the Gaza conflict. The emotional event drew attention from diplomats, politicians, and civil society representatives. Nearly 60 ambassadors and official delegates from various countries attended, along with Hungarian civil society groups, NGOs, and diverse community organizations.

In a recent report, the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities noted that approximately 40,500 children have suffered conflict-related injuries in Gaza over the past two years, with more than half left with disabilities.
