Hamas signals readiness to release hostages and lay down arms
(VOVWORLD) - Hamas announced its response to the peace initiative proposed by US President Trump on Friday, expressing readiness to release all remaining hostages under a ceasefire agreement and signaling willingness to disarm—a key element of the proposal.

According to reports cited in Israeli and regional media, Hamas stated it could begin immediate talks with mediators, though warned logistics difficulties might prevent the release of all 48 hostages within the first 72 hours as stipulated.
The group also reiterated its call for Gaza to be administered by an independent Palestinian authority, including representatives of Hamas, and sought participation in broader national dialogue on Gaza’s future.
Notably, Hamas avoided addressing other terms in the US initiative, including its full disarmament.
Early this morning, both the US and Qatar confirmed receiving Hamas’s response, while Israel has yet to issue an official reaction.
