Hezbollah, Israel set conditions for ceasefire agreement
(VOVWORLD) - Naim Qassem, Hezbollah chief in Lebanon, said Wednesday that the force will not accept any ceasefire that violates Lebanon's sovereignty, while Israel said it wants the freedom to act within Lebanon to enforce any violations of a proposed ceasefire agreement between it and Hezbollah.

In a televised address, Qassem emphasized that Hezbollah seeks a full cessation of Israel’s military actions in Lebanon and aims to safeguard the country’s sovereignty.
He stated that Israel cannot unilaterally enter Lebanese territory or impose conditions on Hezbollah.
Qassem stressed that the success of a ceasefire depends on Israel’s response and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s commitment, reiterating Hezbollah’s readiness for a prolonged conflict if necessary to protect Lebanon.
His remarks coincided with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar’s statement that any ceasefire agreement must allow Israel to act against Hezbollah in Lebanon in case of violations.
