The opening ceremony themed "Radiance of the next generations" featured the magical ancient capital of Hue through the convergence of music, lighting and images. The essences of the ancient capital shined with the effects of laser, LED matrix, and hologram projection lights and 3D mapping on the semi-realistic art stage at Kien Trung Palace.

This outdoor theater will host a Trinh Cong Son music night, and the festival’s closing ceremony on June 12. The main performances are taking place in the Hue Imperial Palace heritage area and public spaces along the banks of the Huong (Perfume) River and the streets of Hue city.

A “Royal Gastronomy” program will be held at Truong Sanh Palace, one of the 20 most popular attractions of the Nguyen Dynasty's capital, to introduce Hue’s unique cuisine. There are nightly art performances at the Hue Citadel’s Thai Binh Palace and Thieu Phuong Garden.

This year, Hue International Arts Festival Week is attracting nearly 30 art troupes from France, Belgium, Spain, Canada, Japan, China, South Korea and Vietnam.

Nguyen Van Phuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, said this year's Hue Festival Week will continue to spread community spirit.

"In addition to the programs inside the Hue Citadel, the Organizing Committee is holding street festivals and community stages where international art troupes perform for the wider public. Provincial localities also organize many cultural activities so that everybody can immerse themselves in the sounds and sights of the special art program,” according to Phuong.
