(VOVworld) – Indonesia is focusing on the development of industry in the next five years to turn itself into an advanced and highly competitive industrial nation.

Under its development plan until 2019, Indonesia will boost 14 industrial areas outside Java and encourage the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises in 22 centers.

Industry Minister Saleh Husin said that to achieve this target, Indonesia will support the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community by the end of this year. The Indonesian government will focus investment in machinery and industrial equipment, improvement of human resources, creation of industry technology centers, and production of non-oil products.
