The quake struck off the island’s southern coast at a depth of 82 kilometers. It didn’t trigger a tsunami.

Indonesia’s search and rescue agency released videos and photos of damaged houses and buildings, including a ceiling at a hospital in Blitar, a city neighboring Malang.

As of Saturday evening, the death toll of tropical cyclone Seroja that hit Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara province on Monday has risen to 174 people.

Seroja is one of the most devastating storms to have made landfall in Indonesia in recent years.

There remain dozens of people missing after the storm. The rescue forces continue to search for the victims buried in the rubbles.
