Indonesia lodges Chinese fishing boats’ human right violation to UN
(VOVWORLD) -Indonesia has raised the cases of Indonesian fishermen having been maltreated to death on Chinese fishing boats and urged the United Nations Human Rights Council to be vigilant of abusive practices in the fisheries industry.

Indonesia’s UN mission chief, Ambassador Hasan Kleib, during a Human Rights Council virtual assembly on Tuesday, asked the Council to make more effort to keep track of human rights violations in the fishing industry – something that is often overlooked – during this pandemic when food security has become even more paramount.
He said Indonesia has consistently advocated for greater human rights protection and better safety measures for fishermen.
