Following a meeting with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda at the Pabrade military training area, Scholz said Germany is making significant investments to enhance its defense capabilities and execute the NATO common defense mission effectively.
The German government has established a special 107.8 billion USD fund and has issued new defense orders. Long-term investment in the German military will equal 2% of Germany’s annual GDP, meeting NATO guidelines and bolstering Germany’s defense capabilities.
Germany and Lithuania are actively preparing for the permanent deployment of a German army brigade in Lithuania.
