France yesterday stated the possibility to supply defensible weapon for the Syrian opposition but Russia strongly opposed saying that it violates international law. Meanwhile US took cautions stance on this issue. In Paris, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius stressed the need to consider removing defensible weapons out of the sanctions imposed on Syria by the Europe Union (EU) to help the opposition fight against President Bashar al Assad. Fabius’ opinion faced disagreement from Moscow. A spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry warned that outside help for an opposition force to fight against a legitimate government is a “gross violation of basic principles of international law”. President Barack Obama said Washington welcomes but is not yet ready to fully acknowledge the new-established opposition alliance.
