Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan and Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran will return to their posts by Friday, according to a joint statement by the two countries’ foreign ministries. Foreign Minister of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, will visit Pakistan next Monday.

Pakistan and Iran agreed to de-escalate tensions on January 19. The relationship between the two countries had become strained after they conducted airstrikes against supposed terrorist targets within each other's territories, resulting in the loss of many lives, including women and children.

Following these incidents, Pakistan recalled its ambassador in Tehran and blocked Iran's diplomatic representative in Islamabad, who was away on a business trip, from returning. Iran also summoned Pakistan's chargé d'affaires over air strikes.
