(VOVworld) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that his 2009 speech, in which he called for a Palestinian state next to Israel, was not relevant anymore in the current reality.

The statement followed a report by Israel’s Ynet News on a list of concessions made by Netanyahu to the Palestinians during his previous term in office, including the possibility of Israeli return to the 1967 'Green-Line' borders, dividing Jerusalem, and recognizing the Palestinian right to return home. Netanyahu's office rejected such concessions. AP quoted Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat as saying that Netanyahu was using regional strife as an excuse for jeopardizing peace efforts and the two-state solution.

The Israeli election will be held next month. Moderate and left-wing parties have shown their endorsement for resuming peace talks with Palestine.
