The move marks an effort by Japan to deepen its collaboration with NATO, seven years after the mission's establishment.

The role of Ambassador of the Japan Mission to NATO is now held by Mr. Osamu Izawa, former Japanese Ambassador to Senegal and three other African countries.

In a statement, the Mission emphasized the growing interconnection between the security of the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific regions. This functional separation is expected to significantly enhance and expand the relationship between Japan and NATO moving forward.
