Japan, US reaffirm peace, stability in Indo-Pacific
(VOVWORLD) - Japan and the US have reaffirmed the importance of peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region and strongly denounced China’s attempt to unilaterally change the status quo at sea, including the East China Sea.

At a meeting in Japan on Tuesday with Admiral John Aquilino, Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide promised his efforts to tighten the US-Japan alliance to achieve a free and open Indo-Pacific.
Admiral Aquilino said he believes a strong US-Japan alliance is critical to regional peace and security, and emphasized how important this visit to Japan is to him as Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command.
The two men also agreed to work closely together to address the issue of North Korea.
