On September 9, in his first public speech after the Queen's death, King Charles III paid tribute to his mother and promised to faithfully follow his mother’s example of selfless duty.

King Charles III was born on November 14, 1948, at Buckingham Palace in London, the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. He became heir to the throne after his mother was crowned Queen in 1952.
