Britain's new monarch praised his mother's life of service and said he would continue to emulate it on the throne.
King Charles III admitted that it will no longer be possible for him to give so much of his time and energies to the charities and issues for which he cares so deeply, but he knows this important work will go on in the trusted hands of others.
Charles confirmed his eldest son and heir would take on his former title as Prince of Wales and William's wife Kate will become Princess of Wales.
King Charles III was born on November 14, 1948, and is the first-born son of Elizabeth and Philip. At 73, King Charles III is not only the oldest monarch to assume the British throne but also the longest-serving heir to the throne.
