Chairing an online conference with the Steering Committees for E-Government Building of ministries, sectors, and localities on Wednesday, Prime Minister Phuc said that in recent years, a number of agencies accelerated digital transformation and developed a digital government.

He requested that 30% of online public services must allow online payments by the end of this year. The Prime Minister said, “The Ministry of Public Security accelerates the development of a Decree on personal data protection to submit to the Government in 2020. The Government Office coordinates with the Ministry of Information and Communications to submit a Decree on electronic identification and authentication, which should be completed in the third quarter of this year. The Ministry of Information and Communications must submit to the Prime Minister the Digital Government Development Strategy from 2021 to 2025 and orientation to 2030. A legal foundation on sharing data publicly and transparently is needed so that we can effectively use the databases we are having.”

According to a UN Survey Report on e-Government development level of 193 countries and territories announced in July, Vietnam increased by 2 notches, ranking 86th in the world, 24th in Asia, and 6th in Southeast Asia from August 2017 to July 2019.
