(VOVworld) – Bebinca, a tropical storm, hit the northeastern provinces on Sunday night, the eye of the storm hit Thai Binh province and Hai Phong city. After the storm passed, heavy rains occurred on a large scale causing flash floods in mountain regions and valleys. In Thai Binh province, no damage has yet been announced, but, the province is doing its best to protect nearly 3,800 hectares of sown rice seeds from the risk of flooding. Cao Thi Hai is from the provincial Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control: “The area seeded was attended to first. The committee deployed forces and equipment to units across the province. Valleys are top priority to minimize the loss. There is always someone on duty at all districts in order to quickly respond to problems caused by storm.”

In Nam Dinh province, due to the impact of the storm, hundreds of meters of sea embankment in Hai Hau and Giao Thuy district were blown off. The storm flooded more than 8,000 hectares of rice, 550 hectares of subsidiary crops, and nearly 40 hectares of aquaculture ponds throughout Nghe An province. Officers and soldiers and local authorities of Ky Son district are making every effort to search for two missing from Nam Can commune.  

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasts say that due to the impact of circulation of the storm, rain showers will fall in northeastern province and northern mountainous region, and are calling on the provinces to prevent flooding and landslides.
