Many state leaders attend WWII anniversary in China

(VOVworld) – Chinese President Xi Jinping held separate talks with the Presidents of Laos, Kazakhstan, and Serbia, and the Cambodian King, who are in Beijing to attend a September 3 parade to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

During talks with President Choummaly Sayasone, Xi said the relationship between the two countries and the two political parties "has entered its best period in history.".

He noted that China is eager to work with Laos to boost their comprehensive strategic partnership and called on both sides to maintain high-level exchanges and an annual meeting between the two presidents.

Choummaly said Vientiane would like to maintain close high-level contacts with China and strengthen cooperation in international and regional affairs.

At a meeting with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, President Xi said Beijing is eager to maintain high-level contacts with Cambodia and boost cooperation in key areas.

King Sihamoni said Cambodia will enhance its traditional friendship with China and increase high-level exchanges and cooperation in all fields.

Xi and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev agreed to build stronger ties. Xi called on both sides to strengthen support for each other, safeguard each other's core interests, and improve bilateral cooperation in investment, trade, energy, infrastructure, and high technology.

President Xi received Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic the same day, where they agreed their nations should strengthen cooperation in telecommunications, automobile manufacturing, transportation, and water conservation.
