(VOVworld)- Hemophilia Vietnam and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion on Saturday held a meeting to mark World Hemophilia Day (April 17) with the theme “Narrowing gaps- Connecting Community”. It is estimated that Vietnam has about 6,000 Hemophilia patients, 30% of them are receiving regular treatment. Doctor Nguyen Thi Mai, Head of Hemophilia Department of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion says that lack of awareness of the disease is one of the major difficulties in the disease treatment. “Hemophilia is a genetic and lifelong disease, causing patient to bleed for many times. Without treatment, hemophilia patients would become disabled and paralyzed. The treatment costs a lot of money”.
