(VOVworld) – Newly elected president Mohamed Morsi was sworn in yesterday as Egypt’s president. He became the first president from the Muslim Brother after the six decades. At the swearing-in ceremony, Morsi pledged to build a constitutional and civil state, insisting that he will allow no one to remove any president’s right. He committed to maintain a republic system, respect the constitution and laws, fully protect the interests of the people, and safeguard national independence and territorial sovereignty. Morsi stressed that under his leadership, no one or no institution will be put higher than the people’s aspiration in Egypt. He also committed to implementing a foreign policy of self-determination.
