NA Chairman meets with Vietnamese community in Thailand

(VOVWORLD) -National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on Saturday met with 600 people representing more than 100,000 overseas Vietnamese living in Thailand.

At the meeting in Udon Thani, Chairman Hue said that the Vietnamese community in Thailand is growing stronger, always attached to the homeland, oriented towards the homeland with unity and success.

In Thailand there are more than 20 Vietnamese temples and three President Ho Chi Minh relic sites, including two sites managed by the Vietnamese community in Udon Thani and Nakhon Phanom province. Thailand is the first place in the world to have Vietnam Town. Rajabhat Udon Thani Royal University has just established the Center for Vietnamese Studies.

Mr. Hue said that the National Assembly and the Government of Vietnam are reviewing investment incentive policies to improve competitiveness in attracting investment.

Mentioning rewards and honoring overseas Vietnamese who have contributed to the revolution but have incomplete legal documents, the National Assembly Chairman promised to review all cases to find ways to honor them and best implement the policy of gratitude.

Chairman Hue also noted the proposal to increase scholarships for overseas Vietnamese children to return home to study and coordinate with the Thai side to better preserve President Ho Chi Minh's relics.

He presented 100 sets of Vietnamese learning books to children of Vietnamese expatriates in Thailand.
