She said the national construction and development has the substantial contribution by the Vietnamese Catholics and those in the Hanoi Archdiocese in particular. The top legislator said the Vietnam-Vatican relations have made progress with Vietnam agreeing in principle for the Holy See to send a resident special envoy to Vietnam.

Chairwoman Ngan told the Hanoi Archdiocese about future tasks: “I believe that the Archbishop will guide and encourage the Catholics to develop the Archdiocese, contribute more to  socio-economic development of Hanoi and the country, and implement well Party guidelines and State policies. The Vietnamese State always respects and ensures the freedom of belief and religion of all people through the Constitution and the Law on Religion and Belief.”

The National Assembly leader said she hopes the Hanoi Archdiocese and other archdioceses will continue to thrive  to bring a peaceful and happy life to Catholics and people nationwide.
