(VOVworld) – The National Assembly Standing Committee on Monday discussed the draft law on citizen reception as part of the committee’s ongoing 20th session. Delegates said that citizen reception is an important activity of the Party, State and organizations in Vietnam’s political system. By receiving petitions, complaints, recommendations and feedback from the people, the State and organizations can determine appropriate solutions and adopt proper policies. The National Assembly Standing Committee held that the law should only regulate citizen reception activities by State agencies, political and socio-political organizations. The majority agreed on the need to stipulate offices for receiving citizens. Some suggested that each agency or organization should organize the reception of citizens in line with its duties and functions.  National Assembly Vice Chairman Huynh Ngoc Son proposed a joint office for receiving citizens within National Assembly agencies:“I propose that citizen reception should be carried out once a week or once a month. The citizen reception office should advise the National Assembly and its agencies to help resolve issues within the authority of the legislative body. This office also needs to forward people’s complaints, petitions and recommendations to the relevant agencies and set deadlines for the resolution of issues”.

In the afternoon, the National Standing Committee commented on the draft revision to the Law on Emulation and Rewards and the Law on Employment.
