(VOVworld)- The National Assembly Standing Committee opened its 48^th session in Hanoi on Wednesday. High on the agenda were initial reports on the Sunday’s election for the National Assembly and People’s Councils.

The committee also commented on reports on the implementation of a national target program to build new rural areas in the 2010-2015 period. Participants discussed the effectiveness of scientific and technological development policies for national industrialization and modernization during 2005-2015. They noted that attention should be paid to trends of scientific and technological development as Vietnam integrates into the world and joins many free trade agreements, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The committee also examined the 2 draft resolutions on criteria for administrative unit and urban classification.
