Nationwide environmental campaign launched for brighter, greener, cleaner Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang on Friday urged all citizens to join a nationwide clean-up drive every Saturday morning, starting August 23.

He made the call at the Hanoi launch of the campaign “All People Join Hands to Protect the Environment for a Bright, Green, Clean, and Beautiful Vietnam,” one of the activities marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

Mr. Thang stressed that every Vietnamese can become a “green soldier” on the frontline of environmental protection.

Immediately after the launch, thousands of young volunteers and local residents collected trash, cleaned landscapes, and planted trees around the Hanoi Children’s Palace and nearby parks.
