(VOVWORLD) - Economics, trade, science, and technology are the potential areas for stronger cooperation between Vietnam and the US, said Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung, ahead of President Luong Cuong and his spouse, and a high-ranking delegation’s trip to the US to attend the High-Level General Debate of the 80th UN General Assembly (UNGA-80) from September 21–24.

Ambassador Dung said these areas align with Vietnam's development needs, strategic direction, and priorities for the new era, and resonate with the US’s aim to diversify and sustain global supply chains.
This presents a significant opportunity for Vietnam to strengthen its role as a reliable partner in global value chains, particularly in technology, clean energy, and sustainable development.
Mr. Dung said that 2026, marking the 250th anniversary of US independence, will be an occasion for the two countries to organize cultural exchanges. He pointed out that increased access to the US market and the integration of American expertise would profoundly benefit Vietnam's cultural and tourism sectors.
Referencing Vietnam's pressing need for high-quality human resources, Ambassador Dung said the US's advanced educational systems and experience are invaluable assets for collaborative efforts to elevate the standard of training of Vietnamese students.
Ambassador Dung praised the growing prominence and success of the Vietnamese community in the US, particularly in science and technology, and said he hopes the Vietnamese community will continue to promote bilateral relations by fostering deeper understanding and stronger economic, cultural, and educational ties between the two peoples.
