New START treaty to be signed prior to US presidential election
(VOVWORLD) - The US says the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START III) between Russia and the US will be signed prior to the US presidential election early next month.

US President Donald Trump’s administration said the treaty principles proposed by the US have been agreed on by Russia, saying the two sides are likely to resume negotiations next week.
START III is set to expire next February. Russia proposed the US extending the treaty by five years without any prerequisite conditions.
