North Korea sets new goals to strengthen defense

(VOVWORLD) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un unveiled new goals to strengthen his country’s self-defense on the second day of the 6th plenary meeting of the 8th Workers’ Party of Korea’s Central Committee on Tuesday in Pyongyang.

In his statement, Kim mentioned principles, methods, and experiences to achieve success in all aspects of socialist cultural construction, and proposed key tasks that need to be focused on next year to achieve the goals set out by the 8th Party Congress.

Kim’s statement also assessed new challenges on the Korean peninsula, clarified foreign policy principles, and set directions to protect national sovereignty and interests.
